John Hancock warrant, 1790.

Warrant, Boston, Mass., signed by Governor John Hancock and John Avery, Jr., Secretary of State, ordering Alexander Hodgdon, treasurer of the Commonwealth, to pay one hundred fifty pounds to Richard Devens, Captain Joseph McLellan, John Fox, and Joseph Noyes, a committee to superintend the construction of a lighthouse at Portland Head, to be used for the construction of a small building for the keeper of the light.
